Diabetes Prevention—Free Resource

If you are among the 79 million people who are at high risk of developing type 2 diabetes, you may be interested in a free program offered by the YMCA.

Based on research (funded by the National Institutes of Health and the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention) which showed that by adopting healthy behaviors and losing a small amount of weight, a person with prediabetes can prevent or delay the onset of type 2 diabetes by 58%, the program includes:
  • 16 one-hour small group sessions led by a trained lifestyle coach that help participants with information about healthy eating, physical activity and behavior change
  • Followed by monthly meetings to help maintain progress

If you live in any of the five boroughs of New York City and want more information, please contact Judy Ouziel at 212-912-2524 or jouziel@ymcanyc.org
